How it works
When you click "Check IP," your browser sends a request to ipify, a free third-party IP lookup service, which responds with the public IP address currently assigned to your connection. That request goes directly from your browser to ipify — LocateMeTools does not see or log it.
Public vs. private IP
Your public IP is the address visible to the rest of the internet. It's different from any private/local IP your router assigns to devices on your home or office network. This tool shows the public one.
Is this a security risk?
No — your public IP is already visible to every site you visit, as a normal part of how web requests work. Seeing it here doesn't expose anything new.

How does this tool find my IP address?
