Distance between two coordinates
Enter two GPS coordinates to get the straight-line distance between them, in kilometers, miles, or nautical miles.
How the calculation works
This calculator uses the Haversine formula to compute the great-circle distance between two latitude/longitude points — the shortest distance across the Earth's surface, ignoring roads, terrain, and elevation. It's the same basic method used by most "distance as the crow flies" tools.
Everything runs in your browser
The calculation happens entirely on your device using plain JavaScript math — no coordinates are sent anywhere to compute a result.
Entering coordinates
Use decimal degrees separated by a comma, for example 25.2722, 55.3053. If you don't know a location's coordinates, look them up first with Address to Coordinates.
Frequently asked questions
What kind of distance does this calculate?
This tool calculates the great-circle (straight-line, "as the crow flies") distance between two points using the Haversine formula. It does not account for roads, terrain, or travel routes.
What format should I enter coordinates in?
Enter decimal degrees separated by a comma, such as 25.2722, 55.3053. Latitude must be between -90 and 90, and longitude between -180 and 180.
Can I use my current location as one of the points?
Yes. Click the location icon inside either input field to fill it with your current coordinates via your browser's Geolocation API.
